What's Important?
Yeah, There's Stuff Going On.

The weather has been gorgeous and up until today I've been outside enjoying it. Now, however, it's cold (okay, cooler) and raining, so here's your update.

That Wasn't As Bad As I Expected.
When leaving them in their bedrooms didn't work, I tried a new "punishment" a friend of mine uses — she calls it her kid timeout. I put Ryan by the front door, Sarah by the dining room and told them to stand with their hands behind their backs and noses on the door or wall. Both of them HATED it, so I'll be using it again. Tee-hee-hee.

After about two minutes, Ryan said he thought he maybe had something to tell me. He didn't remember how it happened, but he might have been the one to spill the powder. I told him to put his nose back on the door and apologized to Sarah for punishing her for something she didn't do. After another couple minutes, Ryan remembered what had happened. I don't think his story was the exact truth, but at least he finally said he did it. Then he got to put his nose on the door for another five minutes.

When I let him go, I told him all I wanted to know was who made the mess so they could help me clean it up. I wasn't upset until I was lied to. He'll learn — after all, I figured it out eventually.
Somebody's Lying.

(My babies — so young and innocent. So NOT like that anymore!)

I think it's Ryan, but so far no one is admitting to dumping baby powder all over the downstairs bathroom floor and toilet. Whomever the culprit is made several faulty assumptions. One, that if they put the powder away (Tom left it on the counter) I wouldn't know anything had been done with it; two, that I wouldn't be able to smell it (in the hallway and my office before I even got into the bathroom); and finally, that I wouldn't notice the tracks on the carpet.

Both children said they didn't do it, so I said since Nobody doesn't live here and I know I didn't do it and the dog didn't do it and Daddy's at work so he didn't do it, one of them is lying. They're both in their rooms until somebody confesses.

Now, why do I think it was Ryan? Because he wanted to know what would happen to the person if they admit to the crime. (Ah-ha moment for mom!) I said that person would be punished for messing with something that doesn't belong to them AND punished for lying. At which point I asked once again who did it, both kids said not me, so I closed doors and now I'm down here, venting and trying not to laugh.

Maybe I'll change their names to Idontknow and Notme.

Sure Sign of Spring.
Tom has a class on Thursdays, so he's usually home a little early. The kids and I were outside, enjoying the gorgeous day when he pulled in. I suggested he put up the basketball hoop and that's all the kids have wanted to do since. In fact, Ryan's friend Alex is over right now and Ryan's a little disappointed because Alex doesn't like basketball. Poor guy.

Happy Easter!
DSCF5780
I'm still recovering from the holiday weekend. I didn't sleep well on Friday because I was thinking of all the stuff I need to do Saturday morning before we left. For whatever reason, I apparently no longer like to sleep away from home because every noise, hiccup and snort kept me up on Saturday night. Then last night, Sarah started calling for me around 10:00 and she called me back several times after that. I finally just picked up my book figuring I'd wait her out. Tom came up at 11:30, said approximately four words, put his head on his pillow and started to snore. I got tired of waiting for him to stop so I ended up on the couch.

Needless to say, I'm sleepy and heading to bed as soon as this posts.

Check out the pics here.

I don't need to say anything, do I?

Sarah wanted nothing to do with the Easter Bunny and Ryan didn't want to sit with him. This is the only photo I got as Ryan gave the bunny the coloring sheet.

She wanted me to take pictures of her "being cute". Sometimes, she really scares me.

Mommy Took Us To The Zoo Yesterday.

It was 70 degrees outside and sunny — seemed like a fun way to spend the afternoon. I kind of forgot that a lot of kids would be on spring break. Add to that the construction projects on the bridge and elephant habitat and the place was a mess. But I got some new shots of flowers and the kids (and I) got hot fudge sundaes. Everyone was happy.

No, Mommy Doesn't Want To Hop.
Both kids are into hopscotch all of a sudden. Sarah is very good at hopping on one foot and Ryan, for once, could take some lessons from his little sister. He's got more of a strange shuffling thing going on.

I got yelled at because all I do outside is sit or stand in one place. Sorry bozos, but my ankle is not at 100% and I'm not going to push it. Chasing you around the yard, playing soccer and such will have to wait a little bit longer. In fact, after a couple of walks and hanging out in the yard, I think the gimpy little thing could use some ice. Sigh.
