At least I've got time to get a little painting and drawing done between each side.
Since he's on his way out of here, I decided to feature him on Illustration Friday too. After all, what says the blues more than Clapton. In blue.

I don't know how to draw trees or bushes or houses. Give me one individual flower or leaf and I'm fine. Present me with the whole thing and I freak out. I know I probably shouldn't draw each and every branch and leaf, but how do you simplify all that information? I'm so used to recording every last detail that I short circuit when I want to edit. ARGH!
You can get all the details here, but basically it's a drawing marathon. Artists of all skill levels meet at a scheduled location, draw, move on to the next location and repeat until time runs out or I'm guessing you collapse from exhaustion. If you're close by, please consider taking part. It will be a great opportunity to connect with other artists and learn from different styles, techniques and interpretations. I can't wait!
But I guess I'll have to. Hope I see you there.
Today has been a little lame so far. We spent the morning waiting for the cable guy to come and luckily, some of the time was also spent waiting for him to fix it. Seems a squirrel or chipmunk decided to sharpen his teeth on the cable coming into the house. The guy spliced in a new piece and now I have a souvenir chewed up cable I'll probably end up drawing. I'm weird like that.
Wow! Two weirds in one post. Weird.
I wish I had something really wonderful and touching to say, but that'll just make the husband blush — and probably yell at me later. So I'll just say Happy Anniversary. I'm thankful everyday that we got past that second date and ended up married. You're my best friend and I don't tell you often enough that you're also the most important person in my life. Love you! (That wasn't too mushy, was it?)

So after dinner last night, I sat down to tackle the translations for a clients' motorcycle catalog. I did fine on the 30+ pages of "pretty" copy — the descriptions of the motorcycle models and what they can each do. It was the four pages of already scrunched and crammed-in technical garbaldy-gook that gave me fits. I gave up at about 10:30 last night and saved those four pages for this morning. Luckily, I figured out an easier way to handle it and it's all done. Now I'm waiting for the messenger to come pick up the package so I can go "someplace kids like".
How come we never go someplace moms like? It's not fair!
Diahn
at Art By Diahn presented me with a
"Creative Blogger" award today! I still find it
hard to believe at times that people other than my
parents (hi mom), in-laws, husband and friends (hi
zelda) read my blog and now I've got someone
telling me it's deserving of an award! How cool is
that?!!? Very cool if you ask me.
So the deal now is I pass the award on to five other
bloggers I find inspiring. Tough to pick, but if I
have to narrow it down, then here are the five I make
sure I visit every day.
Andrea Joseph — Andrea does
the most amazing illustrations with a ball point
pen of all things! I have no idea how she does it
or where she gets the patience from, because they
are always so intricate. And to top it off, she's
also a genius with colored pencils.
Jessica at Ocean of
Creativity — Jessica is a
mom like me, trying to balance kids & family,
work and her art. Hate to say it, but I take
comfort in the fact that there are others out
there trying to find time for everything.
Penelope Dullaghan
—
creator of Illustration
Friday, Penelope is one busy
and inspiring lady. I can't say enough about her
amazing work, so go check it out for yourself.
Suzanne Buchanan at An Open
Sketchbook — I love this
lady's sense of humor and amazing ability to
convey anything with a line drawing. I especially
enjoy her illustrations of feet ... no fetish
here, she just makes them look cool. AND, she is a
very talented stationary designer and teacher.
Another busy lady!
Megan Foldenauer — A medical and
biological illustrator, Megan has a very inspiring
"drawing a day" series going that is amazing! She
can do wonderful things with just a pencil.
So thanks again to Diahn. You made my day!

I ordered a sample to be mailed to myself this weekend and it's supposed to go out tomorrow. I'll let you know how long it takes to get to me ... the company printing them is in California.
I hope you'll stop on by to check out the selection. Thanks so much!
