I may not be
able to think of anything to put in my sketchbook,
but I'm still trucking along painting fruit. The next
one will probably be something on an orange
background. No dad, not a watermelon.

Not sure what
the problem is the last day or so, but I'm not happy
with my sketchbook. I want to draw, but I can't find
anything that holds my attention long enough to make
the effort. Crazy thing is I'm still painting and I'm
still drawing, so I'm not sure why I'm obsessing.
Probably just because it's what I do.
Could also have something to do with being tired. My son has decided he's outgrown naps, so I'm missing the break I used to get everyday. Even if I didn't lay down too, I had time to myself to regroup. I think I need a vacation.

I think. I'm
not sure how I want to hang these in the kitchen and
now that I have them all done, I'm thinking I'd like
one more. Now if I could just figure out what fruit
and what color, I'd be good. Yellow would make sense,
but the walls are yellow, so that won't work. Purple?

I've had a
lot of positive feedback on my lemon painting from my
blog readers ... hard to believe I have blog readers
... and I really appreciate it. It's hard to judge if
something outside of your normal comfort zone is
working, so I'm very happy to hear that others like
this. Happy enough that I started another one today
featuring a pear. Stay tuned.

So this is
mildly scary, but going well so far. I think I've
mentioned that I've had a couple of ideas for new
artwork for my kitchen, but I've been too chicken to
try them. After spending the weekend shopping for
plates, towels, curtains and such AND not finding
what I have in mind done for me, I'm taking a stab at
it. Right now, this looks better on screen then in
person, but I'm happy with how it's going. Wait ...
let me type that again so it sinks in. I'm HAPPY with
how it's going.

I'm hoping getting these little guys in the mail might remind some people that I'm out here. Unlike some of my friends, my design work has been down. Not a bad thing when you are moving, but hey, now I'd like to buy some new stuff and the extra cash would be nice.

With
everything that's been going on, my drawing time has
dwindled somewhat. I still get one in each day, but I
find myself skipping the watercolor part and just
working fast. I don't think there's anything wrong
with that, but I am starting to feel a little rusty
in the "real" art department.
I have a couple of ideas floating around in my head, but I'm nervous. One is for a big painting for our kitchen. I keep telling myself to just go for it, but I find myself looking to see if I can find what's in my head already done in the stores. So far no such luck, so I may have to just get over it.

That's what I
have with technology. For some reason I don't
understand, my spy camera is on the fritz. I haven't
dropped it. Well, lately anyway. It was working fine
one day and kaput the next. Wonder if it will be
worth it to get it fixed?
I've been pretty busy this weekend around the house, so b&w is all you get on the drawings. And tonight I read a book instead of drawing. After all the work in the yard, I just didn't want to pick up a pen and draw. Oh well. More tomorrow.

... before I was so rudely interrupted ... that the kids seem to be adjusting well. At the very least, they both like the colors we painted on the their walls and they're sleeping through the night.
I, on the other hand, am not. Sleeping through the night, that is. Tonight will be our fourth night and I've done better with each one, but I keep waking up and thinking about where to put stuff or where something I haven't found yet might be. The good news is that as of today, all of the rooms in the house are unpacked, including my office. I think it's because most of the things that need to be put away came over in our van and I just put them away instead of piling them up somewhere. There's just the garage, which I already mentioned, to tackle. Oh, and the four boxes of CDs, DVDs and videos. And the box of cassette tapes.
Anyway, tomorrow T goes back to work and the kids and I are going to try to get back to a normal routine that doesn't involve eating almost every meal at a restaurant. And I should have time to get back to drawing and painting, which is good because I already have a couple of new things I want to do for the kids' new rooms.

Or at least
getting there. I got my studio/office unpacked and
set up this morning. I feel more at home now that my
computer & internet is up and running. I haven't
checked email, blogs or posted anything in about 5
days, so I'm out of touch and suffering from
withdrawal. I had a chance to do a quick sketch on
Friday, but that's been it since this whole moving
thing started. Hopefully, I can start getting back
into it today.
