A Day Late and A Dollar Short.

Busy, Busy, Busy.

But not on
art. Got keys for the new house yesterday and my
plans for the next week include stripping wallpaper,
painting and cleaning. Then next weekend we're moving
in. Posts are probably going to be few and far
between. I'm going to try to go easy on myself and
not freak if instead of drawing I'd rather sleep. I
have a feeling the sleep will be more important. Not
to mention that after a day of scraping wallpaper, my
wrist is killing me and picking up a pen in the last
thing I want to do.

Latest Shoe ...

... and it's
not even mine.
Kind of in a crummy mood. Had to get out of the house again for another showing. I know people do this for months, but it's just not fun with two toddlers and a dog. Not a lot of things to do ona rainy day that all three of them can go to for a couple of hours. Consequently, we were all pretty cranky today.

Toss In Some Flowers For Good Measure.

The kids
wanted to get out the sidewalk chalk yesterday, so
that gave me a chance to draw outside. Saw that my
irises finally have buds, so I thought I'd do another
series and try to draw them as they open and bloom.
Apparently, shoes are not enough of a challenge.
I'm feeling a little better with my drawing the last couple of days. I am enjoying this shoe series, which is probably half of the battle ... enjoying what you're drawing, that is. And it is a cheaper way to indulge my obsession. I can just continue to admire the shoes that I already own.

The Series Continues.

And don't
expect it to stop anytime soon. I have A LOT of
shoes. More than I can count right now, because the
ones I don't wear in warm weather are already packed
in a box somewere in the garage.
I'm thinking this is actually a pretty good series ... shoes have a lot of different textures — especially tennis shoes — and it's a bit of a challenge to figure out how to differentiate between them. Drawing shoes is also pretty stress free. You don't know if there's a bump right there or not, so if I slip, who cares. No one's going to know.

Still Not Myself.
May 06, 2007 08:03 PM
I'm tired.
And I missed drawing on Friday and that has me
bummed. I still don't really feel like drawing, but
I'm trying really hard to just keep on keeping on.
I'm afraid if I miss too many days, I'll quit all
together and I don't want to do that. Good luck
figuring this spread out ... I did it over two days
and it's a little disjointed. I even numbered the
entries so I can figure it out.
Feeling Better.

Artistically
anyway. The (*&$^@^%*#*) birds woke me up about
an hour ago, so I figured I'd make use of my time and
add color to this drawing from yesterday. Oh. And
have chocolate cake for breakfast before everyone
else gets up, but that's just between us.
Anyway, I took my time, working in layers of color and letting them dry while I surfed my favorite websites. I'm happy with how it turned out because it looks like more than just a drawing done just so I can say I'm drawing. Does that make sense?

Roller Coaster Ride.
May 02, 2007 08:28 AM
Okay, you're
probably going to think I'm crazy since I'm posting
drawings for the last four days, but I don't feel
like drawing. I think part of it is the emotional
roller coaster ride of buying/selling homes, but I
don't know what else is going on. I keep looking at
my sketchbook and thinking I should draw, but nothing
is really catching my eye, making me itch to pick up
a pencil.
I'm making myself draw everyday and hoping that determination will see me through this hiccup. Hopefully I'll snap out of it soon.
